However, it was their first time to fly commercial. Kaleigh's first time to fly, period. We had lots of entertainment and expected her to sleep. She usually takes a two to three hour nap on Sundays after church. We boarded the plane. We sat by the wing, I don't know why I always try to get a set by the wing, but that is what I like. Kaleb wanted by the window and we were ready.
We had 20 minutes before take off and Kaleigh was getting restless. I put her down and was climbing under the seats, probably driving the people in front of us crazy. She was opening and closing all the trays. Then she lays out in the floor and is almost asleep. It was time to take off, so I had to restrain her in my lap. When she looked out the window and saw that we were moving she started screaming. Oh yeah, the whole way there was this fun. She screamed during take off and every time she looked out the window and saw clouds or sky for that matter. She NEVER went to sleep. But she did spill a cup of water on Erik's lap.
And it was freezing cold and about twenty minutes before we landed. So when we landed and he was walking off the plane, he totally looked like he peed his pants front and back. It was a horrible first time flight with Kaleigh. We took a laptop, but forgot the DVDs.We also forgot her sippy cup, that would have been extremely helpful and probably prevented the above. We had suckers, lip gloss, gum, which we used for landing, it did not help, she still screamed. We also forgot her stroller. That would have been extremely helpful in the airport, while we are dragging six pieces of luggage and chasing a 19 mth old. SHE.WAS.WILD. We had to get luggage, then find the rental car place, then get on a shuttle with our luggage and children, to go to the rental car place. Unloading children and luggage at every stop. So much fun in the hundred degree temperatures. We got a mini van! We were ridin' family style. It was nice and clean, but it did NOT get returned that way. Fun stories each day about the "mini van experience" stay tune this week! We did LOTS of U-turns trying to find the place we bought our Disney tickets and our hotel. But we made it. We unloaded, relaxed a few minutes, then it was off to grab some dinner and a TARGET run!! Addicted maybe! ;) Then home to sleep, because the next morning we were heading to Epcot!
We had a great day at Epcot, however, it is my LEAST favorite Disney park. In fact, I never care to go again. Kaleb was granted a medical pass, due to his kidney transplant, he is not suppose to be in the sun a lot and he requires lots of fluid to prevent dehydration. With the medical pass, you get to go to the front of every ride and character lines. It included our whole party of eight!!! Score! We would never have gotten around the whole park and seen all the characters without the pass. Some people got VERY angry that we got to pass, because Kaleb looks normal physically. But they have no idea what he has been through or the daily routine he does just to stay alive. I was tempted to pull up his shirt and show them the Mickey button, Urostomy bag, and the multiple scars all over him, but I refrained. I give God the credit, He alone is where my strength comes from. But the worker took care of it for me. He explained that there are several medical illnesses that are excepted and that the Customer Relations people had approved ours. Thank you sir! My sweet family!
The kiddos! Left to right: Kaleigh, Maddie, Ashton, and Kaleb.
It was HOT, HOT, HOT! We hit a character line first thing! Kaleigh did not like the chracters. But everyone else enjoyed them.
We were suckers and bought the autograph books and the passport booklet for the "Around the World". Kids did the autographs, but the parents ended up doing the passports. Each country would write a message in their language. It was neat, but the kids were bored with it! There was just not a lot do and Epcot, but glad we choose it for day one, so it wouldn't have been a downer after the other parks. We left the park and went to Longhorn for dinner. We dropped Courtney and Alex off at their car and the kids rode with us so we didn't have to switch their car seats. Ashton wasn't feeling well after we left Epcot. I thought he may be sick from the rides, but it may have been more the heat and dehydration! So we are riding along and he said he was going to puke, so we handed him a cup thinking he would be fine. Then he started screaming, "PULL OVER!" So as we are pulling over he is puking EVERYWHERE in the van! Then I got him out on the side of a BUSY road and he continued to puke. It has been an EVENTFUL first two days! Alex cleaned out the van as we were waiting on a table. YUMMY! ; / We ate and went to Target AGAIN and home to shower and sleep!
A few pictures for fun!
Kaleigh's only picture with a character!
Maddie climbing a pole and Kaleigh trying to follow her. They were big buds this week. Kaleigh calls her "my Mad"! Cute!
Girls cheesing for the camera!
Kaleb got Maddie's hair tangled in the misting fan!
Courtney and I with Mary Poppins. She said, "You must be nannies!" LOL We said, "Yep!"Kids also got pics with Snow White and Tigger and Pooh, but I figured you quit reading about 30 minutes ago! ;)
Tuesday we headed to Animal Kingdom.
Even though I lived through all of this...I enjoyed reading it. I love you babe. Keep up the blogging.
ReplyDeleteI literally just laughed out loud as you recall the puking event with Ashton. I can't wait to read your rendition of the rest of the trip. I don't know that I've laughed so much on a trip before, especially with so many "not so funny" events.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a very eventful first day! Epcot isn't a favorite of mine either. We usually go there in the afternoon or night!
